The dog that was buried alive, dehydrated, sick and full of sores is finally rescued

A scared dog was found in a terrible situation. Dog was dehydrated, sick, missing fur and was covered in sores.

She was rescued by PAWS of Hawaii. Dog was found on a West Oahu beach.

“Someone had just buried her and they had a machete, so who knows what was next,” said PAWS of Hawaii, which named the dog Leialoha, the Hawaiian word for “beloved child.”

“The man who buried her, we were led to believe, had started to cut her,” PAWS executive director Ku’ulei Durand told NAVC.

Dog was so sick. She was found with missing fur and was sunburned. Also her legs were swollen.

So vets helped dog immediately. Doctors applied coconut oil/SSD ointment to her skin and now she is feeling way better.

Dog has started to eat and feel healthy again.

On Saturday, Leialoha’s foster parents posted an update stating that she has “come so far.” At first, she would only leave her kennel to go to the bathroom, but she has since ventured out to “see what was for dinner” and has found her safe space under a coffee table.

The dog, named Leialoha for “beloved child,” was swollen, sunburned, missing most of her fur and “bleeding from every inch of her body” when she was picked up, according to the organization. Her leg had also been cut with the machete.
